Dead Again Book #1 in the Zombie Diaries George Magnum Books

The author obviously has a good imagination. Unfortunately his writing skill is not up to the same level. The constant misuse of words, bad grammar and loss of story line, frequently pulled me out of the story. And for heaven's sake, please learn how to use the comma. Examples? Sure: in a few paragraphs the author refers to a little boy (Doug) as both a male and a female. He even does it within the same sentence a couple of times. Or, "the .50 caliber machine gun fires 300 rounds per second". Really? I'm pretty sure it's more like 7-9 rounds per second. A little research maybe?

Overall, a good story ruined by bad writing and/or a lack of editing.

Dead Again Book #1 in the Zombie Diaries George Magnum Books Reviews

Ok so I KNOW that this book is really in some bad need of editing! I have to ask, did anyone proofread this story? Multiple typos on a page, multiple name goofs, gun name mistakes, descriptions on said guns and how they fire, tactical maneuvers, military bearing goofs, goofs on how to address an officer and goofs on how briefs work- but I guess he is a civilian who didn't do much reaserch on that aspect, because he KNEW he has/had a SOLID story line, progression of events, and a solid foundation when it came to the zombies themselves. Getting back to my rave review, I have this to say
1) I LOVED the story line
2) I LOVED the characters, thier depth and individual struggle
3) I loved the insight into thier minds- why they were the people they were (family issues)
4) I loved the military lingo and the attempt to show what soldiers/airmen/troops have to deal with and how they address command leaders (though in real life you'd NEVER EVER EVER speak like that to a superior- the author is OBVIOUSLY a civilian)
5) I LOVED where he was heading in the story line
6) The author OBVIOUSLY understands the psyche of a man on the edge, the feel of combat, the pressure and rush of adrenaline, the horror you have to push through as a soldier..
7) I CANNOT WAIT TO READ HIS NEXT BOOK!!!!!!!
8) GIVE HIM CREDIT FOR HAVING SUCH A KICK AS$ STORY LINE AND DIRECTION!!
9) I want to pre-order his second book NOW!!! IF YOUR READING THIS Mr.Magnum, KEEP YOUR HEAD UP AND KEEP WRITING, YOU HAVE A FANTASTIC FUTURE AHEAD OF YOU, AND IF U NEED AN EDITIOR... I'D LOVE to help!!!

This was a fun paced easy read...I love zombie based books and this is definitely one of my faves.
I don't know how old the author is, but he needs to go to a community college and learn everyday English.
Fragments, multiple subject changes ('a character brandishes a machete. a zombie leaps forth, swings, and cuts the zombies head off.' Yeah, almost word for word.), unrecognizable misspellings of words, completely incorrect pronouns (a ten-year-old boy is constantly referred to as 'Doug', 'dough', 'the ten year old boy', or 'her'), and the absolute disregard for continuity all team together to show the world how spending $2.95 can be a terrible waste of money.
I actually wouldn't be surprised if the author is a twelve-year-old who recited this to his eight-year-old brother to write out.
As many others have pointed out, there are a ton of mistakes in this book, from military to grammar. Having read The Gathering Dead by Stephen Knight, Dead Again just feels like a ripoff. Gathering Dead is a much better book, better storyline and military accuracy (he actually researched all military aspects). Read Stephen Knight instead.
I like zombie stories. You set aside reality for a little while and enjoy some old fashioned horror. Sadly it's impossible to believe anything about the military unit the author has given us. It's woefully apparent that the author has no idea about the military except what he has experienced from watching the 80's A-Team. Except the A-Team was more realistic.
Really corny story. Forced myself to read 3/4 of the book and just couldn't take it anymore. Apparently the author couldn't stand to read a second time either given all the uncorrected errors.
This book kind of reminds me of an 80's action flick. There's a lot of heart pounding moments, but very little realism. I was taken aback by the lack of tactical and technical military knowledge possessed by the author. This was my big glaring problem throughout the book. I just had trouble visualizing things when I knew that things were fundamentally incorrect. Basic military knowledge was nowhere to be found within these pages. Even if stuff like rank structure could be correct I would have given this book three stars. I know it seems nit picky but I like to believe what I read and this book wasn't believable at all. Now the kid in me loved the constant action, the way the team is just mowing through zombies like the infinite ammo cheat had been enabled. I cannot however recommend this book in good conscious.
